Office Break Games

Word games

Poetry improv

Make up a short poem on the spot from a random topic. Rhymes optional, applause mandatory.

Players
3–12
Time
10–20 min

What you need

  • Slips of paper for topics
  • A bowl or a mug

How to play

  1. Everyone writes a topic on a slip and drops it in a mug (the printer, Mondays, the last team lunch).
  2. A player draws a slip and gets 30 seconds to think.
  3. Recite a four-line poem about it.
  4. The room claps; the loudest clap of the round wins.

Office tip: Let people pass. Two people taking a second go is better than one forced poem.
